Some thoughts on this, mostly from a needed skills perspective. Our product is information. Customers for this information approach us with 1000+ questions, and members provide the information through contributions. Extending this into the future where we might have 1,000+ members in the Troubled Times group, I envision something like the following job functions or hats currently being worn and/or needing to be worn:
- Answering Questions
- This would be done by communicators, trainers, and the helpful. Could be a pool of persons answering questions. First one to work it is the one who answered the question, or could be a hierarchy of if the answer is unknown it gets passed up to the senior communicator, and if still unknown, and is determined a good question, gets passed over to the information providers to work. Reference to where the answer is in Troubled Times would be the primary or normal course of action to answer the majority of questions. Problems with quality or workability of the existing Troubled Times answer would get sent to quality checker.
- Contributor
- Information providing would be composed of researchers, engineers, practical experiencers, testers, and others.
- Solution Selection
- Determine if it is suitable for the Troubled Times site and where it should go. Select out the meat from the fat, edit down to vital data. Done by proven practical high quality information providers.
- Web wrapper
- Adding solution to the Troubled Times web site. Add reformat with HTML tags and send to review and comment holding area. Done by HTML competent technical person.
- Quality Checker
- Condenses, removing the deadwood or no longer useful data, reorganizing for better readability and use by all. Looks for holes in the data. Makes the data an integrated gradient series of solutions. Request holes be worked by solution providers. Done by proven practical high quality information providers.
- Link Repairer
- Looks for and as needed fixes broken links. Receives all request to fix broken links. Done by HTML competent technical person.
- Data Distributor
- Once review and comment is complete, distributes the information to various web sites as HTML and download also, insures data gets to the makers of hardcopy, floppies or CD-ROMs.
- Trainers
- Training classes in the pole shift survival basics across the web. Each student goes through it at his or her own rate. Trainers answers questions and keep them on track. Flows up good questions and concerns to information providers to work.

Note: The hardcopy and floppies could be made available initially on a 6 month basis. This would change to a 3 month time frame for the last year or two. CD-ROMs generation would start up when needed due to size of stored data, number of customers.
